It must be a difficult adjustment to go from being able to dominate a game simply by walking onto the field to all-of-a-sudden having 9 out of 10 blokes being bigger, faster and stronger than you with a bulk of field position coaching to boot.

But you don't lose innate footy talent overnight.

If you were Henry’s manager, wouldn’t you be asking Henry the question about whether he’d entertain a move? The next 6 or so players taken after him in his draft have been given more opportunities, and JLo hasn’t really shown a lot of faith in mercurial attacking players during his time at the club.

I really hope he stays. I think he’s missed a few pre-seasons, and while he might not ever been a pressure player that JLo favours, if he can get up-and-down the park more then he might find a role with the team.

Henry is tracking to be the type of player Walters is, he has bulked up a bit, and does have a pressure side to his game. Go back and watch his earlier games this year, he wasn't afraid to tackle anyone, took on ruckman when he had to.

I've said it a few times and I'll mention it again, check out who Colin Young manages at Freo. When you see the media pull player names out like this, there's no coincidence that the player is managed by Young. Henry, Lobb, Logue, Acres all clients of Colin Young.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

If you want to play football with the Dockers over the next five years then you are going to have to accept you will be able to earn lots more elsewhere. You will be underpaid. That's the system and the curse of every talented team.

I think Logue is smart enough to get it but some other players may be influenced by a turd like Colin Young.

I am concerned we'll lose a few.

Morgan, a serious question. You seem to indicate that Henry falls into the “mercurial attacking players” category. I’ve only seen his AFL appearances but I haven’t seen enough from him to justify anything like that (even taking into account his inexperience).

When I think of current “mercurial attacking players” I go straight to Kosi Pickett, who is only a couple of months older than Liam but is light years ahead of him on the field.

The serious question: What is it that justified his high pick and high expectations?

This time-of-year is both brutal and hilarious.

Collectively, as fans, we've let Aussie Rules become an enormous business with hangers-on like Young and Ch7/Fox with little value down at the local level. They've also perfected rent-seeking for stadiums and facilities, which just makes it even more upsetting.

An old boss of mine used to say we can't be consumed by one (or three) individuals leaving. We needed to believe in our process and our customers. He was a great leader of ..... Ansett (joking).

I'm confident there is a core of contracted Dockers that will have an even better 2023, and those 2022 players that aren't getting much of return/run-of-games are welcome to look elsewhere. I wouldn't begrudge Meek or Henry asking the question. Lobb wanted to leave already last year and Acres has only just arrived. He'll be getting a boo'ing.

But we ABSOLUTELY MUST FIX our dysfunctional scoring-power.

I'm okay with any of those moves because it creates opportunities to bring in players that need a chance like Clark and Brodie. Or draft picks, as we have basically one and a couple worth nothing.
If we get Jackson, which of those being discussed could we not cover even with our current list, let alone who comes in?

Henry looked all at sea at AFL level early on, but this season he had a couple of AFL games where he looked pretty good. But he was only there because others were injured. Maybe he took his demotion back to Peel the wrong way.

I'm not sure how good he is, but I reckon he needs to play another season with us to build his trade value (if nothing else).

A turd is only polished once per year so Colin has to give it his best shot...

Pav says a lot more with what he doesn't say than with what he does say. And, he is right.

Yeah, well thanks for that Pav - the kid can't stay now knowing he ain't worth a raise. Sorry, brutal honesty should go on behind closed doors, not before the weather and Thommo's wrap-up.

So, with so many Freo players on his books Young can determine the future of club success. He can hold the club to ransom.
Lachie Schultz - pick 57! Another Lachie we no longer have was about the same pick! I'd trade Henry if we can pick up players like Schultz and Neale.
