The few times we saw Meek, he did exactly as required and was actually bloody good against the opposition that day.

He didn't seem to tire much, his disposal was better than others in the team and Hodor got a break. These are opportunties to avoid breaking Hodor down mid-year or having a strong group at the end of a home-and-away.

It would be an impossibly difficult conversation to have with the youngster, but he's a required player and I hope there's a way to get him on the field a bit more. Over-working Hodor is a massive risk to our future seasons.

You don't stop a player from going when you aren't giving them games (and don't intend to) and he can take up a number one ruck spot at another club.

You also don't accept less than an early 2nd round pick for said player, particularly if more than one club are desperate to sign him.

The fact that he is being offered a leading role means we should look to trade in good faith. Yes he is very handy for us a a back up, and yes we suffer badly if Hodor gets injured, but its unfair to hold a player back like that.

It is absolutely critical ( unless we get a hail Mary deal" we keep Lobb.

We cant go backwards next year.

Lobb sures up our forward line as Jackson is no where near Lobb as a forward.

With Tabs and amis fighting for the second spot , we can still be a competitive forward line.

If we can Jag Tippa , than we can move forward again.

For what it's worth I still think Lobb will go but only if the Doggies can pass on some of the good juice they are expecting to get from Brisbane (for Dunkley).
I reckon they may have promised Lobb they would look at a trade this year (then the bugger went out and had his best Freo season ever). No way will Freo have a motivated player next season if he stays.

I think Lobb will be extremely motivated.

He is 30 next year and 31 when he begins a new contract.

If he has a poor year and a rising 31 year old he could find himself in a very poor bargaining position.

I think you will find he may be even interested in staying longer at Freo with suitors drying up at 31.
