Granted Morgan that didn't look great but a big difference being both players had eyes for the ball until that split second when Nat sees Greenwood and clumsily tries to fend off a likely front on collision. Cripps lined Ah Chee up from a long way back and for a player of his experience he knew exactly what he was doing and the likely consequences as explained by David King. I can't remember if Nat went to MRO on that hit but he'd justifiably be looking at a couple of weeks on the sidelines as Cripps should be longer because of the reckless and premeditated nature of his hit on Ah Chee.
In the first quarter Carlton were soft and Cripps took it upon himself to go out and injure someone in the second in order to fire up his team mates as it did when they came back at Brisbane. It doesn't endorse the thuggery on Cripps' part though.

I'm in the minority here, I see the contest and would demand a Freo player commit to it similarly, if less clumsily. If it was a marking contest it might be a free kick is all. Seen plenty worse in marking contests, particularly this year, including this weekend.

Cookie used to scare the crap out of them with a near miss. Worsfold took a few long range shots, as did Byron, but in their day on field punishment was a deterrent. These days a Cripps knows anyone who dares say boo to him let alone dish out revenge, will get 6 weeks.
