I hope we continue our rise.
With Geelong improving their squad. Richmond now with a gun midfield, and injury affected this year. If Brisbane secure Dunkley and Ashcroft their midfield will be elite and not dependent on Neale. Sydney’s youth should have them still there about. Personally I can’t believe Carlton missed the 8 with the list they have.
Collingwood may or may not repeat their performance next year. Realistically they’ve had one poor year in the last 4 or so. Western Bulldogs could forseeably decline with the loss of Dunkley. However they’ve been overloaded with mids, perhaps Lobb will be a good addition, and may get a full season out of English.
Someone will bob up and surprise.
Having said all that, we’ve judged our list well over previous years.
Despite my negativity to this deal Jackson without a doubt a quality footballer. I’m much happier with the salary being reported as closer to 700k than 900k. I hope this talent transfers into flexibility in other spots.
Fyfe will need to play well for an entire season to make up for Mundy loss.
We need to hope for similar availability from our backs, if so there is still a lot of upside from this group.
Erasmus, Johnson and Henry need to deliver on their potential and should add to midfield mix. Although I see Henry more as a dangerous small forward than a wing.
Up forward Amiss should be a very good addition to our permanent forward line. Taberner fit makes a huge difference. Then Treacy, and Sturt could really lead to a potent forward line.
The future still looks exciting. I’m still not convinced we might not slide a little initially.
