Meek plus pick 13 to hawks for their pick 6 might be a chance? I think pick 6 with along our 2023 1st round is overs. if that doesn't get it done move on.

So if I have this right Jackson is currently looking like costing us, Logue, Acres, this years first, next years first, and probably a future second.
Can someone remind me what we got for Neale and Cerra. Both out of contract, ones picked up a Brownlow, and runner up in a second.
We appear to have been sucked into the trap of being shafted at the trade table. Recently we’ve shown an ability to get value from our picks.
We’ve walked away from this, in pursuit of a guy who has shown great potential. However, from what I’ve seen this has been when thrown in the ruck. We currently have one of, if not the best young ruckman in the league. I hear Jackson, can play all these other magical positions, I’m sorry I’ve seen zero evidence of this. We’ve lost one guy who has shown the ability genuinely play multiple roles.
I really hope I’m wrong in this one, my enjoyment of footy seasons for years to come count on it. I could handle this on our current path, if it’s caused by our own incompetence, it will be devastating

no. you're inventing nexus that aren't there. Luke Jackson had nothing to do with Logue and Acres.

Acres and Logue were offered slight unders what the club valued them at. The club might have assumed they'd want to remain part of a successful club on the rise which is fair enough. Time and again premiership teams are made up of players making these sacrifices.

Certainly Acres was not worth any more than what he was offered at the time. And then he decides to play like he did? harder at the ball and man, stronger in the tackle? so he's been taking the pi55 for two years and now reward him? that's why Pav wrote the article he did. Watch next year, he'll be the same plonker on the wing he was last year.

Griff is being seriously overrated by North. Good luck to him.

Sounds to me Logue was offered well below our final offer initially, which opened the door.
Acres was worth more than 1 year at approx 200.
If these offers had nothing to do with the money needed for Jackson, I would be very surprised.
It’s not just the loss of the two players. It’s the deals we’ve had to take for them. The need to get the Jackson deal done has placed a time sensitivity on getting these deals done.
I’m sure we started this trade period thinking we would move on Lobb while in contract, help Tucker find a new home and possibly shop Meek, with Jackson coming on board.

Was Acres really worth more than that at the start of the year? He was very much looking the like player St Kilda were glad to get rid of for two years.

Griff was our 7th best defender and his offer reflected that. Then we turned him into a serviceable swing man and upped the offer. I don't see anything wrong with that.

And like I said, slight under to stay in a set up hopefully contending for foreseeable future.

You cant please them all and you certainly don't bend over backwards for middling players like these.

What we got for them was due to them being uncontracted.

I don't see either of these trades having any input into the Jackson trade, if they happen. So no, there was no time pressure other than to clear the decks to focus on negotiations over the next lot. Meek, Jackson and Lobb.

Logue was our 6th best player according to our F & B.
Whichever way you look at the value of Logue, he’s worth more than a future 2nd. Which is further deflated by the inclusion of Tucker.
We’ve been side swiped by him wanting to leave.
We were willing to trade Lobb, and now left threatening to hold a player that’s wanted out for two years, while he still has value. Everybody including Lobb was expecting him to be traded this year. I find it hard to view this as anything other than poor personnel management.

You could also say we got overs for Tucker. A future 3rd round pick inside that deal is more than Tuckers worth and probably absorbs a bit of the price for Griff. All in all I think it was a fair deal especially considering we where dealing with the team with the first pick in the PSD. North did not have to be that generous.

We gave back a future 3rd though

And received a future 4th. Considering likely ladder position they will cancel each other out.

Remind me, is Jackson contracted to Melbourne?

So leave the offer as original and be prepared to walk away.

Who else is going to bid. Maybe West Coast, but not likely to give up more than Freo’s original offer. If they do then good luck to them it doesn’t solve their real playing stock problems.

It’s not that important to chase higher.

Mark my words, Melbourne will cave in late at the prospect of getting nothing.

Uncontracted for next year. Thus the PSD in play.

Maybe. That’s if we don’t slide and NM improve. Both foreseeable. We had virtually zero injuries this year, we would appear to have at least lost a bit of depth. NM would appear to be improving their list at least a little and the energy of a new quality coach at NM. Anyone remember the Liam Stocker deal and where Carlton on finished that year trading their future first.

For mine adding Sharp, Corbett and Jackson improves our squad.

The 'opinion' is that we will hold Lobb to his contract until the Jackson deal is done. When that happens (not if but when) then the Lobb trade will crank up. We have the upper hand with this trade if it materializes particularly as WB are likely to lose Dunkley and get some good picks back.
