Others have said it, but he's worth more to North than Freo. They need to pay 95% of their salary cap to someone. It might as well be him. It would be hard to turn down that guaranteed money in the fifth year, especially when he was on the margins with Freo at times this year.
I'm also glad Freo didn't reach too hard to keep him.
To me, everyone in this scenario is acting rationally and I'm not mad at anyone.
Back on Jackson, I'm fine with two first round picks so long as they are in the mid-to-high teens. If we have to trade into a top 5-10 pick, then still give up our 2023 pick, that seems like too much.
