As mentioned Noddy, those stats are misleading. Watch the game and you will see what everyone else did. There's a reason every comment post game was about how good Jackson's 3rd qtr was in an effort to win the game.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Cyril Rioli had plenty of 15 possession games where he was best of field or close to it. Tom Mitchell has had 40 possession games and not been in the best 5 on the ground. You need assess his influence on the contest.

Excuse my naivety, but shouldn't the fact that Jackson is out of contract have an effect on how much the Dees are able to demand for him?
The media over here in Melbourne is raising his value with every passing day ... Whateley is now saying that pick 2 and another 1st rounder is a fair asking price.
I'm feeling that's pretty rich for an out-of-contract kid who had a handful of touches & little influence in his last 2 games.

I dont think 'last two games' has ever been the performance measure to determine a player's value Hiroshi, in any sport.

Correct ... 2 poor finals don't maketh the man ... but then everyone talks about his performance in 1 final (albeit a GF) as being the only evidence that we ever need of his 'super stardom'.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to have Jackson at Freo, but I'd hate to sell the farm for it to happen. Remember we gave up a heap of early picks for Lobb & Hogan a few years back & that hasn't turned out how we'd hoped.

Nathan Schmook is the AFL sites Freo focused reporter and he has written up the most fair article in relation to our prospects and intentions at the trade table so far.

As I mentioned a while ago, Jackson is not likely to be a Lobb replacement exactly. He's someone capable of impacting and being a star as a midfielder in his own right and that's the most likely option when he comes to Freo and pairs with Darcy. Think of Mark Blicavs but with a tonne more talent on top of the athletic ability.

Amiss, Tabs and Logue are the ones replacing Lobb if he goes. Sure, Jackson may get stints forward but ideally, he'll be running around the ground and impacting the contest with his impressive athleticism below his knees, good skills and fantastic movement in traffic.

Also, please note all the problems he mentions regarding the OOFTIT's trying to snare Jackson. It's not gonna happen.

As an aside, I still don't see Logue leaving if our $500K per year contract offer is true.

Best article ive read in a while relating to Jackson and Freo. I have no doubt that Melbourne have told Jackson not to nominate Fremantle to the media but its clearly where he wants to go and will end up. West Coast are in no position to pay the reported salary to Jackson or nor do they have the balls to trade away a swag of picks again ala Tim Kelly. I'm excited about Darcy and Jackson in the middle together next year.

Agree with all of that, but the one thing Lobb could offer that I don't think any of our other current forwards mentioned really do, is a pack mark. Considering the way we like to bomb into our crowded forward line, someone who can do that would be helpful.

That role is what Logue should play, Bizkit. He's born to do it. I suspect that's the attraction with North Melbourne.

I remember him thrashing Jeremy Cameron one day and thinking to myself there are not many backmen who have the attributes to do this.

But that's the only time this year I've thought that.

Good luck to him. I wouldn't pay him more than 500k and we'll take Norths second round pick and a fourth for him. I really liked Blockerhalls wrap of Amiss. Just has that innate ability to stay in a contest.

I think it's one of those times when it's in everyone's interests he goes. Jackson is the next big thing. Get Jackson. He will add more value given who is going and who we have coming through.

For mine we hold Lobb to his contract and let Logue walk. This gives us another year to develop Amiss and Treacy. I don't buy the fact that we can't afford to bring in Jackson if Lobb is on the books. All we have to do is pay the 500k to Jackson next year that we have offered Logue and back end his contract for when Fyfe retires.

I tend to think that if a player doesn’t want to be with the club, then any on-field benefits of holding the player to the contract might reasonably be outweighed by keeping a miserable player on the list; but a lot depends on how strongly a player feels about it. Lobb seemingly wanted to go last year, but by all reports put his head down this year, and I thought he played really well. Is it asking too much for him to do so again? Maybe.

I’d much prefer Jackson played as a floating forward(ish) player a proxy KPP when he’s not playing in the ruck. Fyfe was always at his most potent when he ran forward from the middle and much less good as a forward, and I reckon Jackson could be the same. Standing him in the 50 against a big goomba doesn’t make sense.

If you’ve got some combination Tabs, Fyfe, Amiss, Treacy and Sturt down there, with Darcy and Jackson floating in, that’s enough targets. I’ve never been a fan of the twin-towers approach. I reckon it makes us slow and a bit lazy with our entries.

One place I think Jackson could really help us is in the centre clearances. We’ve been rubbish there for years. There will be times when having a more athletic leaper in the ruck will be helpful.

I wouldn’t like to lose both Acres and Tucker. I think their defensive running is underrated. If we have someone like O’Driscoll or Henry on the other wing, I don’t think you want them spending too much time in the back half, especially if we need to be more precise with our forward entries.

I really like Logue, and without him we are relying a lot on A Pearce’s dodgy wheels, but if he can really get a lot more money to leave I wouldn’t blame him for going.
