Is it clear how much alcohol was consumed? I don’t have a problem with a “don’t get pissed” rule but is a “don’t have a beer” policy workable given that it only became a problem because it occurred in public? As a comparison, Oldman Mundy might have been kicking back at home in his smoking jacket watching an episode of Downton Abbey with a brandy and cigar and nobody would give a hoot.
There is also an added risk with setting highly restrictive standards that impact on everyday activities and enjoyment of life outside footy. Put simply, they can’t be maintained over a long period of time. They can be a unifying tool when used in focussed short term bursts (e.g. during finals) but does the club seriously expect these standards to continue ad infinitum into the future? If so, expect further breaches and repercussions, which do more damage than a glass of beer.
