Watching these athletes coming out and protesting sponsors, I can't help but think that either

A) They understand that removing potential sponsors will mean lower salaries and they are making a noble stand fully aware that they will take a hit in the hip pocket.

B) They are virtue signalling and will expect no real consequences even when the next advertising deal drops in value.

I'm looking forward to how it all plays out in either case.

You seem very confident that you're smarter than the athletes but I don't think you understand what is being bought and sold in sponsorship deals. They are in the virtue business. Selling their virtue to the wrong people lowers the market value of future virtue sales.

Total sponsorship accounts for about 14% of Freo’s revenue. Even if Freo received slightly less from a replacement sponsor it’s not going to break the bank.

Two things this morning:

Firstly, its not about the energy company, its about our football club. We know what Woodside is; if you don't you're not genuinely making an effort or paying attention. On Dockerland, a football fan website we are asking what our club is. I think its a reasonable question to be asking. I don't get this, "yeah they pay the bills argument".

Secondly, the whole KLF thing. Please! I've enjoyed listening to tracks i havent listened to in twenty five years, so thanks people (I'm working through their back catalogue*), but the whole genius thing...........Hey, hey, hey!

*I want to mace people who say "back catalogue".

It's not about their music.

Andy Warhol didn't just draw some pictures of soup cans. The KLF didn't just mix some sounds together. They deconstructed the music industry and then hacked it for their own means.

Their success and the money they earned from it was so easily made that it held no value. It was a flaw in the system that allowed them to accumulate a pile of money. The value was in their own experience of the chaos they sewed.

When they burnt the million pounds, they were just burning paper.
