Point being - Freo dominated the game before it rained, then were dominated when the rain came. Shoddy forward line notwithstanding.

I agree with him but for how much Hasleby word counts , according to him Freo’s game plan in wet weather doesn’t stand up

Rain or not, those extra inside 50s last week would have been more effective with Taberner and Switkowski playing.

The thing Freo have got to get over is Ray Charles standing the mark. It has always worked for Colonwood against us - instead of going back another few metres and kicking further out, as soon as Beanpole's arms go up we slew the kick left/right. C'mon Freo - learn from the past.

I think Banfield gets a game for two reasons.

One, JLo is trying out a 2 big, 1 mid, 3 smalls forward line instead of our standard 2 bigs and dozen smalls. Banfield is the mid sized, bigger body in lieu of a Sturt or an Amiss and will play until one of them has put on some kgs and got their cardiovascular up to scratch. I think Banners will make way once one of those two other taller players are fit enough, or alternatively if the coach decides to play Fyfe and Brodie forward when they are resting. So I think one of the reasons is that Banners is not really competing with all those other smalls.

The second reason is Freo is becoming a bit like the Australian Cricket team from a few years ago. It became harder to be dropped from the team than it was to get selected. You really had to stuff up multiple times in a row before you finally got the axe. A bad day in the wet doesnt qualify. I dont mind it.

Ultimately though, Im convinced Banners doesnt make our best side, especially in the forward line- (maybe he could tag?). But hey, I thought the same about Acres and he gone up a level and 30 years ago I thought Mundy was too slow and would never make it.

He really has to start kicking those goals from straight in front and not just the impossible bananas and Id say he might only have one or two more weeks to prove his worth. Sturt will replace him after the bye.

I'm happy our forward line is now back from holidays.

Banfield is a similar footballer to dare I say it, Karl Langdon. It's more his defensive work that gets him a game. Longmuir says he wants turnovers in the forward half. Banfield is his man.

To me I'd be teaching a gifted goal kicker in Sam Sturt to tackle better and play him. Sturt is quite talented as a forward.

Comparing someone with Karl Langdon over his football is a bit like saying - he paints a lot like Hitler.

Unless you are prepared to let every foreigner in your house and give them unfettered access to everything then any negative reference to genocidal racial cleansing maniacs is just wanky virtue signaling.

There are two things that give me confidence about tomorrow: 1. You don't lose two in a row; and 2. You learn from what happened the week before. Both traits that we have displayed this year.

Not to suggest Karl Langdon is any way like Hitler, just that Karl's football career does not cast as long a shadow as his buffoonery
