I didn't see this statistic as a criticism of our forward line. It's a damning criticism of our midfield and ball movement.
Repeatedly, we were slow to get the ball moving forward, handballing in the contest and chipping the ball around before bombing long to an outnumbered contest. Our disposals forward were panicked, under pressure and to no target in particular. The slow ball movement allowed GC to send plenty of numbers behind the ball and easily rebound it time and time again.
We kicked long to the pockets for some reason which restricted our forwards ability to get in a scoring position even if they won the ball. The poor part from our forwards was their bad positioning as they rarely positioned themselves for the dump kick out of the contest which also played into the over-possessing game style we employed. Instead of being 40m from the contest for the rushed kick, they were often 60m away ready for a lead that was never going to work, allowing the ball to be picked off repeatedly.
We played dumb footy and need to do a lot differently the next time it's wet.
