TOPIC: Changes for the Gold Coast

With all of the players who entered covid protocols supposed back at training this week, competition for spots is going to be tight. Which of them comes straight back in and who's the unlucky ones flying with the squad for a holiday?

In: Lobb, Frederick, Acres, Erasmus
Out: Amiss, Henry, Tucker, Switkowski

I really want Erasmus to get an extended stint in the side, he's shown WAFL level is below him as he's racked up touches and goals at will there. He needs some time adjusting to AFL level bodies and ball movement. His 8 touches and 4 marks in half a qtr last Friday showed he is certainly up to making an impact and Tucker only touching it 12 times isn't enough for him to hold Raz out. Competition for spots is high and Tucker pays the price for a dip in performance.

I'm also looking forward to Brodie against his old side. It's likely to be wet on Sunday and his body will be eagerly throwing it's weight around gaining us first possession.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Henry isn't quite ready yet. Will get there no doubt. Tucker, you keep him in.

Agree with Acres coming in for Tucker, think Colyer comes in before Erasmus though, he needs to work on his kicking and best place for that is at peel.
Logue gets up if Ryan or Pearce need a break/don’t come up by Thursdays training session. We fly out on Friday.

Sorry Biz but Erasmus is shocking off the boot - 3 kicks, 2 straight to the opposition for direct turnovers. He was a liability with his kicking - really needs time in the WAFL to work on his kicking.

Lobby, Fred, Acres and Colyer (or The Owl) in for Henry, Amiss, Banners and Switkowski.

For me the ins should be:
Lobb, Acres, Logue and Colyer
Tucker as medical sub.

Interesting to see how Brodie copes with playing against the team who didn’t want him...... let the beast loose!!

I wonder if the GC fans will boo him for being offloaded.
Or if they remember what he looks like?

Gold Coast weather for Sunday - wet, light rain/showers, 25c winds from the east 17 - 20kms. In other words Owl weather.

I disagree on Raz kicking being bad. It may not be Stephen Hill level but who's is? Raz is a good kick. He might have rushed a couple kicks but he won the clearances for them and not nailing 2 touches out of 8 still has him well above many of the Freo boys disposal efficiencies.

In any case, he'll make better use of the ball as he gets more games at the level and adjusts to the pace of the game. He nails his kicks for Peel in the 2 games I watched and used it fantastically at colts level before this year.

On top of that, he brings so many other elite facets to the game like his ball winning, movement, aggression, overhead marking and ability to break the lines. Give the kid a run so he can adjust to AFL before finals arrive.

I'd really like to see how Erasmus goes against those Gold Coast young blokes.
It's too hard for me to decide what I'd do wrt ins/outs so will leave it to the experts and instead, open another bottle of Margaret River clean-skin.
