How good a pick up has Kelly been a real team man.
I hope we never ever again go down the pathway of recruiting over priced players.

Thanks for the link Tricolour, "Unmet emotional needs", certainly people attracted to conspiracy theories and the like obviously have something missing like, dare I say it, logic. Interesting Jack has gone down the, I am injured, chute. Two of the most strident anti-vaxxers at my work place pulled the same trick a week out from the mandate and are now on Workers Compo, maybe Jack learnt from them.

One question though, would being a Fremantle supporter mean we have unmet emotional needs, like a flag, or be more reflective of the fact we are a resilient bunch who get more thrills out of riding the ups and downs? Anyway, gotta go, saucer just arrived, party on Mars.

Being Fremantle supporters means we have learnt to process unmet emotional needs.

Lay off Jack. I believe him. He is genuinely injured, he has a very sore neck from all that ducking he does.

I think we’re a better chance against West Coast with him in their team.

I’m right behind you, brother.

Shane, this is pure speculation on my part, so feel free to delete if it adds nothing or harms the thread.
Just trying to reconcile the seemingly different viewpoints.

Weagles: statement that Jack D. missed the cut-off date for the first dose and won't be training with the club as per AFL protocols.

JD posts on social media: “The reason for my absence today was due to doctor’s orders,” he posted. “My club has been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed with suffering from a work-related injury and as a result I am on sick leave until further notice. I will not go into any details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private. I am doing my best to work with the club and my doctors so I can recover from my injury. I intend to return to training as soon as I am fit and able.”

Speculation: his medical certificate relates to mental health issues as a consequence of his desire to not get vaccinated; a work-related injury. BTW, GPs issue these all the time, usually as a referral to a specialist (psychiatrist) or as part of a sequence of psychologists' appointments.

Semantics I know but
"The reason for my absence today was due to doctor’s orders" sounds so much better than "I requested a medical certificate and based on the story I gave him, he issued one."
The patient's right to privacy prevents us knowing more about the context of the issue. I am happy to ignore Jack Darling's musing on the issue as some of the stuff he says is not what I would agree with.

This is purely speculation and does sound a bit crazy but I think he's just following the play book they give you when you join the anti-vax cult, which is one of several movements that has been hijacked by what is, at it's core, an antisemitic movement, that has been organising around the world, hijacking every cause that they can get a foothold into.

They are well versed in manipulating people into joining their groups, and creating a cult like environment where your identity is tied to the group, where your membership of the group causes you to cut ties with family and friends or them to cut ties with them, leaving you ever more reliant on the group - which gives you validation and support when you do the right thing by them. They are good at manipulating people, they are good at organising people and they are good at propaganda.

They have turned the "but" from "I'm not racist but..." into an art form.

"I'm not antivax but...I don't want to tell anyone my medical history, I have a certificate from my doctor, the government shouldn't be able to force me to do things".

Arguments that sound reasonable when taken in good faith but they are rehearsed and scripted and they will change their story to suit the audience. No one wants to just call them out on it and that's what they are relying on. The Eagles and Colin Young expected Darling to come to his senses but the antivax group are cheering him on and treating him like a hero, instead of lecturing him about how stupid he's being and the adulation will get stronger because they will know, because we've seen it with Cousins and Kerr and such, that a large number of West Coast supporters will change their previously held beliefs to justify why one of their players isn't in the wrong.

He's a recruiting tool now. The Eagles should denounce him and cut him loose.

Unfortunately they haven’t a good record on being quick to denounce things that should be called out. Also, they’re playing a contractual game if mental well being is being brought into play by Jumpin Jack. If he’s moving on from playing he’ll be looking for some $$$$ to fill the void of not playing for a few more years.

Weagles are making Carlton look like a well run club, when Jones said he wasn’t going to get the jab, they said straight up, you need to retire or we will be forced to sack you, up to you.
Jones chose to retire.

Shane, you should forward that script to ScoMo, it might help the rest of Australia understand what needs to be done to save the world.
