I still can't work out how Jye Amiss has surged ahead of JVR in the eyes of our recruiters. A lot is made of the number of goals he kicked in the Under 19s comp but 13 of those came in 2 games against weak defenses and JVR probably would have kicked just as many if hadn't played games in higher grades against mature opponents, missed games through illness and then been swung into defense later in the season yet he still managed 31.14 in 8 colts games whilst Amiss got 51.15 in 15 colts games. I think in a couple of years there will be misgivings about losing this kid as he forges a career alongside former junior team mate Luke Jackson. Very smart recruiting by Melbourne which will surely work against the go home factor with these 2 kids.

Yes, I got the feeling they really wanted Erasmus with their first pick, not Johnson and when we picked him I've never seen so many glum faces as those at the Weagles table. Feel a bit sorry for Johnson though, he looked like he was going to cry.
