this article from earlier in the year. While the headline of Brander having ‘no ceiling’ might be correct, for me the most telling line immediately follows: "There's no ceiling for Jarrod and it's going to be up to him on how hard he's prepared to work on his craft and his body and his mind.”
Given he’s been delisted by West Coast, you could probably read into that second part as a bit of a red flag.
So, if you’re Bell or JLo, the question you’d probably be asking is whether you want a fringe player to be a high-upside guy who hasn’t got the best out of himself, or a less talented guy who puts in the hard yards to fulfil their potential.
Being delisted is probably a reasonable kick-up-the-bum, but given the way JLo and Bell handled CamMac and Hogan, and their comments in the past generally, if there is a trade-off to be made they seem to place a higher premium on work-ethic than talent.
