What gives me the irrits is...
The constant use of the present-tense which has crept into footy commentary language, and particularly when it comes to trade talk. It appears the rules of grammar go out the window when it comes to footy.
Eg - 'does the Jordan Clark deal get done?' 'I think The Dees win the GF' (said before it happened) etc.
These sentences are speaking about future events, yet they have present-tense verbs.
Only oracles staring into crystal balls can talk about future events as though they are or have happened.
There - I've said it, now I can get back on with my life.
