Well two words here ,Discipline and Respect.
Going back to my early school days ,my father had a particular heavy belt, which at times he used on me when i was naughty, and probably deserved it,like sneaking out late at night to go to the local drive in theatre,to watch movies through the fence, and ask the people in the cars to turn the volume up next to their car so we could hear.
This was great fun watched the latest movies for free with mates .
But my mum came home early one night and yes she found out where we were and dragged us home with those famous words ,"Wait till your father comes home" ,over and over again,so out came the strap.
Next i was sent to a catholic junior school, run by nuns, yeh those sweet people in their black clothing all nice and helpful, but they also had very large cane's ,which stung like hell.
And then on to college, supposedly to further my education, which by then i could not give a stuff about.
And the Brothers well they were lovers of a very large strap, about 12 inches long and four inches wide,we called one of them "Jack the Ripper'.
Then years later into the Army ,through no choice of my own,the Discipline there is to an ordinary person was hell, but this is how it is drummed into you,it's the Army way or there is no other choice.
This all bundled together is to give an idea of how my life was formed early on ,and i have carried those teachings through my life at home and in business.
Now you would think that i terrorized my children ,and i could pass on stories of friends and army mates that have gone over the top with Discipline
But our children have been taught discipline and respect ,like as young children they were taught to sweep the floor take out the rubbish ,wash and put away the dishes ,every day. They grew up being taught Discipline and Respect.
I certainly would not call them snowballs, and their children are being brought up the same way.
Simple basic rules start at home ,you dont have to go into the services, but if i witnessed someone grabbing a fat kid by the skinfolds and calling him fat ,then even trying to teach the person Discipline and Respect ,it's way too late.
