I'm pretty thick skinned when it comes to all the verbal jousting that goes on here and I'm fine with that but I think a lot of people are looking through rose colored glasses when it comes to seeing Rory as the man who will deliver us a premiership. Winning a flag requires a team performance and Rory has shown himself to be an individual in a team game. He came to us telling all and sundry that he wanted to play forward, not ruck, and though he has performed admirably on occasions in the ruck role for us it's obvious from his desire to return to GWS that he is not happy in this role. We may not always like what we here from the pundits in the media but some are quite obviously better credentialed to criticise than any of us here. I don't always agree with what Kingy has to say but his and Jordan Lewis 'comments regarding Rory's inconsistent performances are very similar to what Peter Bell had to say about Rory's inconsistencies and failings.
I know he's a big target to aim for but if our midfielders lowered their eyes a bit more often and passed in a more efficient manner to players on a lead we would have a more potent scoring effort. Tabs, Treacy, Sunny Walters and co are always leading but our guys persist in bombing it long or miss the target. Bayley Fritsch is 188cm and kicked 6 goals in the GF so you don't have to be a giant to be a match winning forward and yes they had Ben Brown at 200cm, Max Gawn208cm and Luke Jackson199cm but we have Tabs, Darcy and Meek in the 200cm++ group so we aren't short on big guys either.
JLo and the coaching group will have to model a team style of play that works without Rory in the forward line, we did win games without him and don't forget we have a new forwards coach so give the guys a chance.
