I don’t begrudge a player pursuing opportunities in their career. Adam Cerra is an example of this, signed his contract and kept his side of it. The difference with Lobb and Hill is, they pursued these opportunities, and entered into negotiations to secure very generous long term contracts. When I negotiate with you I do so in good faith. I make promises, I intend to keep these promises. Some players seem to want to continue to jump around and break these contracts.
Clubs are bound to these contracts and can’t trade a player without their consent. If players want open slather so be it, get ready to be traded when the club can get what they want.
Hill, Lobb and Neale had clubs look after them really well to acquire them and now feel differently.
In my mind a contract is a promise to do something for something. If you can’t keep your promises then by definition your integrity can be questioned.
