I was thinking the same thing Eventually, if we can get 6 & 25 from the blues we’d have 6,8,25,27 after the father son bids that becomes 8,10,27,29 if we then flipped 8 or 10 for 16 & 20 with the lions we’d have (worst case) 10,16,20,27,29 to try and land 5 of the 6 WA boys.
If we did that we could put the draft cue in the rack for a few years and just look at using our minimum 3 picks per year to top up for retirements.

How long do you have to wait for draft picks to become effective? It's 2 or 3 years at least. You might get a Serong once every 10 years (Rhys Palmer).

I'm getting impatient. Mundy only has one season left. Fyfe and Walters maybe only a couple more. Adding two or three 17-18 year olds a year is a GWS strategy that hasn't worked, save for a Grand Final belting.

And what's the point when players like Sturt, Valente, Chapman and Frederick play a handful of games and then break down? In Valente's case, none.

Where are all the other players coming from?

Brisbane might do that pick swap if they are only going to select a few players.. I wander how many they have delisted.. I think we have 6 list spots to fill and only 2 picks at the present time.. I also wander what the strength of next years draft is.. If we think this year is better, maybe we move out some picks from next year to get some more in this years draft.. Brisbane will need points next year to match bids on Marcus Ashcroft's son

You might have to accept that those players had their chance at a premiership in the early 2010's and the next premiership push will be based on the kids, not the old blokes hanging on.

Every club's supporters want to win every season but if you actually want a premiership tilt then you need to time it well and have a lot of luck. The timing of our next premiership tilt isn't next season, it's once this talented young group mature together. This draft will be a key plank of that.

We do need more quality all round midfielders and wingers. We have to replace Cerra along with Mundy despite his evergreen performances. Fyfe's body won't allow him to play the same bullying role forever and he'll need a replacement in the coming seasons. there's plenty of room for another skilled all round midfielder and I'd probably lean towards getting one with our first pick in the draft pending where it lands and who's available.
