Here’s how to get it done.
Step 1. Get Cerra’s manager to talk up the hawks as a suitor for him and the possibility of them trading picks 5, 21&24 for him.
Step 2. Convince Carlton that with Cerra and a new coach they will be a top 4 team next year. This won’t be hard, they already think they’re a finals bound team.
Step 3. Accept pick 6 and their future 1st round pick for Cerra, they’ll think they are only giving up pick 15 or there about.
Step 4. Offer pick 6 for Neale, pretend to play hardball and that it’s our final offer.
Step 5. “Cave” and offer Carlton’s future 1st round pick (which the lions will know is actually worth pick 5 or there about next year, but ask for picks 14 & 18 in return.
Step 6. Go to the draft with picks 8,14,18 & 27 and get a mid, two talls and a speedy forward/winger.
Haven’t seen Eramus play but he sounds pretty good, if he’s gone by our first pick I’d go for Johnson then Van Rooyen (who from what I have seen if the best of the 3 talls available) grab Williams with 18 if he’s still there and use 27 on Motlop or Wanganeen-Millera.
Brisbane will think they won by securing 2 top 10 picks
Carlton will think they won by giving up picks 6 & 15
We’ll think we won by landing Neal & four top 30 players in this years draft and keeping our future picks intact (although we may need to chuck a future 2nd or third at Brisbane)
