How’s this for a trade hypothetical:
Freo: Cerra & Lobb
Melbourne: Jackson & Brayshaw
Straight swap, no picks required, we get a future star in Jackson and a ready to go mid to replace Cerra.
They get a future star in Cerra and a ready to go ruck/forward in Lobb.

They are in premiership contention right now, so Cerra and Lobb are upgrades to their list, Jackson will dominate in a couple of years when we are in contention, works perfectly for both clubs.

In The paper this morning,they mention Jackson,a no brainer ,but also Rivers and Pickett as possible trades.
Melbourne don't have any good draft picks to give apparently.
After the Father Son deals get done Melbourne have 36 as their next pick.

Pickett scores goals and sticks tackles inside 50 (he's third in the league), which are two things we sorely need. If he was on the table that would be a great result.

Tucker looks like he could use a fresh start elsewhere, we could use someone like Big Brother Brayshaw. There is the bones of a deal there somewhere. But we don't need Rivers, and they don't need Lobb so I don't think they'd be part of it.

But teams tend to overvalue what they have, so I reckon both parties would say no to a deal based on a Cerra for Pickett swap.

They’d need Lobb if they traded Jackson, otherwise your right.
Pickett and Rivers for Cerra wouldn’t cut it IMO.
Maybe Pickett and Angus B for Cerra. I’d still feel like we a losing an elite player for a couple of good players.

Sounds right - Jackson and Brayshaw win a Premiership , Melbournes first in 50 odd years and even though they have a team capable of winning 2 more, both jump ship for promises of success at The Dockers.......
