I think Lyon did a lot of good things with Freo, and I’m glad he’s gone.
There’s obviously things awry at Carlton that they haven’t been able to resolve for an eternity now.
I think that Ross might be just the arrogant, determined, single minded, autocratic type of coach that can resist whatever has brought that club to its knees. He will run the club however he wants too, and they can get out of the way. Perhaps that’s what’s needed.
He took two perennial inconsequential clubs to prominence. Carlton should have the cattle, they’ve sold the farm in the belief they can challenge.
I hope the article about Cerra is true.

I don't know where Boreds (like Carltoon) get their footy knowhow from, but it clearly isn't from watching football. How anyone could even consider hiring RoLy in that role is beyond me - he will gut your playing list, disembowel the club and disenfranchise a large proportion of your club's membership. Then he'll waddle off spruiiking non-sensical RoLyisms until some idiot puts him on tv and he works up his mojo again to fool some other club Bored.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be happier for Carltoon - problem is everyone else has to play them at some point and those games are bound to be on tv.

Pretty simple each AFL team he coached made the grand final. Most clubs want to be there and think that they might win it.

I didn’t like the way Harvey was rolled for Ross. I fully expected Ross to get us into the grand final. I hoped he would win it for us. I also didn’t think Ross could rebuild a team as he didn’t do that at the deaf cheats. But maybe I was wrong when I see some of the talent recruited under his tenure.

Feel happier about our potential now but still think we need a couple of good wingmen.

RoLy is RoLy. I don’t think there are a lot of layers or flexibility. How he is judged depends on what you are looking for. How many Freo fans were complaining about him in our GF year? Not many because he was giving supporters what most wanted. So he succeeded up to that point. But then we needed a different RoLy and he wasn’t able to be that person and left us feeling like he wasn’t up to the requirements at that time. Even if he had the skills to change, his self belief prevented him from acknowledging the need to be a different coach.
My advice to Carlton would be that RoLy can probably get the most out of your current list but don’t hold on to him for phase 2.

He walked into two teams that were about ready to go .
His way of playing prevented the team to last a full year at there top (unsustainable football) .

After a couple of years of that the players were stuffed .
If he was a better coach he would have been able to get the best out of them over a longer period of time , like other coaches have .
He could have played them to there specific skills not just as workhorses , I could go on . It brings a pain in my gut thinking about the last 8 years !
