I think the AFL will pay a price for this decision in the very near future.

Well players have been handed the playbook now, DS.

Yes I changed his face, yes it was caused by me cannoning into him when I could have tackled, But i was trying to get the ball and just mistimed things. Its a split second thing and we are not playing netball.

And I now call on Dr Heinz Frugenheizen, Physics Dean from the University of Bavaria.

RM, that's true but have you ever known the AFL to be consistent?

The rules are whatever the desired outcome needs

That last sentence, hypen. You are more correct than you know.

"Guilty people in life, when they know they are guilty make things appear difficult and unclear."

That is 'exactly' the guiding principle and modus operandi of defense lawyers. The difference is they get paid huge amounts of money to do just that.

Yeti, that's the point I was making, not firing bullets at you, taking a shot at the morons running the game was what I was doing. If they kept the same interpretation of the rules (ALL THE RULES) of the game for more than 3 or 4 weeks at a time, the players, umpires and supporters might have time to follow and understand said rules.

As for the MRO and tribunal, who knows what they would think, god only knows that they don't think anywhere near as much as they should.

with the pace of the modern game, players travel a longer distance at a faster speed in an effort to “contest the ball”

some of the time, the attempt/effort is unrealistic from the beginning - like flying for a mark way too early - it’s reckless decision making and not surprising that impacts can have severe consequences

And sometimes they hurt themselves with their recklessness. They obviously don't mean to, but it happens.

And, Jezz, there is already a rule in the books for that transgression, like most others it is applied with some bias attached.

"I'm guessing you're not serious on that one Capt. It was Naughton leading to take a mark and Logue running back with the flight of the ball. Nothing in it except for Logue's craziness/bravery. "
Corp, my recollection from side-on is that Logue was standing still holding his ground under the ball, Naughton charged in for a speccy and instead got Logue right in the back of the headf. Probably going for the ball but miscued it entirely, at full pelt just like Mackay. Injured himself too, but the consequence was a nasty concussion, Logue was not right at all.
No broken jaw and accidental: so not deserving of 3 weeks but not to apply any penalty at all tells me that AFL has a long way to go with the notion of protecting the head

Two players unaware of each other's proximity and subsequently hitting each other is the true use of the collision word many are misusing at present. Im sure you know whenever you run back with the flight of the ball you are at risk and there are things you do and don't do to prevent injury. Logue needs to watch Ryan and see how he protects himself. Ryan gets hurt lots but not injured in these instances.

McKay got off using the " its not netball defence".

Completely disagree. He was running back with the flight of the ball, and Naughton only had eyes for the ball, not the player. Nothing in it. They were all including Pav, speaking about how courageous he was. Nobody then, afterwards, or on here raised any concerns with it until now.
Even RM didn't dispute it, so that's a good indication.

The problem is Hocking

jezzaargh MRO 4 months 2 days ago #70

to be fair to Hocking, I think the modern expectation is their shouldn’t be too many concussions of facial/jaw fractures in the ordinary course of play, so it’s something that needs to be looked at. A “nothing to see here” approach would not have cut it, despite the histrionics of a few former players
