Hmmm it's interesting, but I didn't mind the way we played under Ross Lyon, well until we started the controversial and so far not very successful strategy of "long bomb into the forward line to an uneven contest and see what happens, oh what's that its gone back over our heads and the oppositions scored, oh well lets set up and try it again, its bound to work at some point"
Accuracy is something I haven't thought about much aside from cursing when we lose, but going back through the records, and you have to go back to 2015 to find a season where we scored more goals than behinds in more than 50% of games. look back a couple of years further and in 2013 we only dropped below 50% on 7 occasions, and 3 of those were in the finals series. That makes it about 6 years of players having the yips and other teams barely worrying about Freo kicking big scores or fast series of goals like other clubs (eg Richmond, Cats, Eagles)
It does make me wonder, at what stage does performance on the field sit with the players, handled through building their skills, and if needed dropping them. When does it come down to the coaches so that they need to work on the way they are delivering those messages to the players and ultimately when does it work its way up the chain to the CEO.
Garlick has only been with Freo for a couple of years so it's probably a bit too early to be throwing shade on him just yet. Barring any major dramas he should see us through a couple of coaches at least.
