Eagles got their chippy chippy game going. We ran out of legs and uninjured players. Umpires gave the Eagles a hand. Very frustrating. You could see that Fyfe was frustrated. The Eagles set-up for getting the ball out of their defence was excellent, and we had no counter for it. There were times we *nearly* interrupted their ball movement, but not quite, and we expended a huge amount of energy doing that. Nothing beats getting to the ball first and controlling it.
We struggled to get the ball out of defence, and made numerous stupid mistakes that led directly to Eagle goals.
Logue does not have a football brain. I don't see his value in defence. Yes, he can monster an inexperienced weaker opponent, but against big experienced guys he just looks lost. There was one section of play where his man got away from him as the ball was being fought over on the ground. Logue was just watching the ball, waiting for it to come out - it did, to his man, who kicked a goal. Maybe persevere with him, but can he be put further away from goals so that his errors don't hurt us so much?
But the path from here is simple. Keep working. Keep getting the young guys stronger. We have some excellent young talent - they will only get better. And get Ryan, Hamling and Pearce back on the park asap.
And WTB, I've found that when you disagree with Yeti, that it turns out you are wrong. Insert some sort of emoji here.
