TOPIC: Reasons & Excuses

Corporal Agarn
i. Injuries.....year after year after year. Supposed reviews that we hear nothing of and there is never any improvement. So many repetitive or long term injuries. It's a complete pissoff.
ii. Young side...yes but so are Sydney and others that far outperforming us.
iii. Skills....still terrible and supposedly something we have been working on for two pre seasons now.
iv. Uneven drafting...we never seem to get the balance right.

v. Umpires....sometimes good sometimes bad, but rarely the reason for a win or loss..
vi. Travel time....sometimes short turnarounds. sometimes long. Same for every club.
vii.Interrupted pre season....bloody covid! Same for all clubs.

i. RoLy hangover, the newer recruits seem to be less affected.
ii. Talking on the couch that defenders have not had to defend 1 on 1, Cox and Ryan still play 3rd man in the contest defence.
iii. Umpires Ryan gets called for blocking far more than the defenders in the sweetheart teams.
iv. Home boys phoning it in [ insert name of preferred escaped goat here].
v. Coach determined to prove his integrity in the new role and giving perceived list cloggers an opportunity to prove otherwise .
vi. A show of strength determined as undisciplined, bring back Ballas as forward coach to instil some passion.

I reckon we have eight of our best out. How would the Eagles be doing if - McGovern, Barrass, Gaff, Kennedy, Hurn, Ryan, Redden, and Cripps were out?

Agree with that Hypen, but Cripps in their top eight? Plus they are unlikely to get Yeo and Shuey for the majority of the season. That would be their two best midfielders. Can you imagine us having Fyfe, Mundy/Brayshaw out for the majority of the season? Doesn't bear thinking about.

Our continued injury list is just so disheartening.

Lose this weekend and we go 1 and 3 against 4 of the weaker sides in the competition and it's probably season over. I refuse to look at this club outside of its own historicity. This is just what the Fremantle football club does. Until there is evidence otherwise you can only go on what has gone before.

Goodie, if you want to go by what Freo does, then we'll lose next week, but in a few weeks time we'll thrash some top flight team on their home deck.

But we need to be realistic. Our injured players (and you can't blame the conditioning staff for Fyfe, Lobb or Banfield) would have helped a lot on the weekend. The home town umpiring was terrible.

Chuck in Hamling, Lobb, Fyfe and give us decent umps and we may still have lost, but we wouldn't have got blown away for a quarter and a half.

I’m sick of hearing about our outs and waiting for some saviour to join the team at some point in the future.
We need to start performing. I can’t even bring myself to watch it. If we put up a good performance this week it might even annoy me more.

Bad luck only goes so far unless you think freo are cursed.
One only has to look down the road and see a club that is elite.
No team is perfect but you need to stack up more correct decisions over time than bad ones.
Supporters say freo got that right or this right so they now what they are doing. Of course they get some things right you would hope so given that a management team is employed.
They simply don’t get enough things right compared to other elite clubs. And when they make a shocker we pay for it for years or hogan.
Also in many respects freo think they are smarter than what they are!
This NGA academy is simply proving to be a real misleading path to take. To get a small western ( yeah he is ok) , Liam Henry showing so very little ( early days hopefully) when we have been crying out for decent talls.
Longmuir stated before the current draft we needed a developing second ruckman forward. Yet we get a 193cm rookie instead , while picking up on this suppose river of gold nga kids.

This club may well be cursed given all the supposed bad umpiring singled out at us, injuries , horrendous draft etc . Maybe we should get a priest to exercise the demons.

I think someone has asked this question before but where is Valente? Not injured and not playing for Peel.

Why haven’t we recruited any tall forwards. The only one we have is Taberner taken out of the rookie draft. Other than that it’s Apeness.
No wonder we don’t have a forward line, and a rookie picked forward goes against the oppositions three best defenders every week.
