We were bad. Umpires were worse. We drew the 2nd half and played their hearts out. But the umps were awful

Oh well, I guess Longmuir got his "consistency"... now for some changes next week.

Im going to openly bag Wilson for pretty much doing nothing since he has been at Freo.
Which now means he will reach full potential and make an arse of me

I know he hasn't played that regularly but I reckon we need Logue out there. The team is young, and small. A big bloke that runs hard and in a straight line will help.

Some of our recruits have come home to retire, which is ok but can they do that after they’ve stopped being paid to play?

many of the players should take lessons from Fast Freddy. Runs hard to give an option, has good footy smarts and best of all knows when to lead hard straight towards the kicker. He is a real positive in my view.

It all starts at the source and we have been undersized for a long time. Plus can we at least get some athletic ruckman and not luggs for goodness sake.

Noddy, McKay was made to look good by Eddie Betts, he held or blocked Cox out of many of the marking "contests" where McKay took marks, when Freo tried the same tactic they were penalised.

That may be true, but they had 21 more inside 50 entries. Our mids got worked over.

Our team is young I think this year we can expect some poor performances in away games. Also guys coming back in like Walters can’t be expected to perform at 100% first game back.

Logie is needed down back to provide support toCox. You can’t expect Ryan to play tall every week the bloke does a great job for his size but can’t be expected to do it every week. Hopefully Treacy plays next week to give Taberner support as a second tall target and Fyfe is back we missed him and n the middle.

We don't have much choice on Ryan until Hamling and Pearce can get fir, or the draft arrives.

In response to your comments Yeti, which indicated that I I hadn’t understood previous posts before suggesting the umpires did not cost us the game, You will find the following words if you look back.

“Its easy to say the umpires had no effect on the result, but harder to back that up with evidence.”

Perhaps you can choose to interpret “result” as the margin but I think many would understand “result” to be who won/lost (which I did). I disagreed with the statement and indicated why. I’m not sure why that required such a direct attack on my ability to watch the game or to read!

Anyway, I don’t expect to change the minds of those who focus on umpires mistakes. I think it’s the toughest sport in the world to adjudicate, and they make regular mistakes as a consequence. I just find it fascinating that they seem to have an incredible ability to convince supporters of both teams that they are being biased against them. And you can bet that some supporters think that the umps have had it in for their club for years. It’s laughable.

Attended the game live, too. A few positives:
- Freddy was a standout. As someone mentioned, he's got great footy smarts and runs to the right places. Now that he's feeling at home, his disposal has improved significantly
- Giro had his best game so far. Probably not a great positive, though, cause he's probably not best 22
- As someone also mentioned, we looked much better in the middle with Darcy in the ruck. I had been impressed with Meek's ground ball skills and quick hands, but he's got to get near the ball for that to have an impact

Morgan, I question the umpiring on the basis of the interpretations of frees given to Cripps, the first doubtful being at the first bounce, against the interpretation of frees not given on many occasions to Mundy, Cerra, & Brayshaw.

The difference in interpretation of late but minimal contact on I think, Curnow, which resulted in a downfield free kick. Compared with the late hit on Schultz which resulted in him being concussed and taking no further part in the game and was not deemed worthy of a free, despite being high and forceful contact to the head. Compared also with Casboult's knees into Young and attempted forearm to the head, no intention of going for the footy, also not deemed worthy of a free, despite putting Young out of the game.

We have lost 5 players through injury of that cause so far this year, for more than 1 game, and if the umpires continue to allow it we will lose more. Yet any minimal contact by our players results in free kicks on a regular basis. What can Freo do? Taberner gave a player a shove after a whistle for a ball up, and was penalised, Cripps grabs Serong and throws him in similar circumstances, and everyone but Freo thinks it's a good laugh.

Yes, your right, I do have a beef with that sort of umpiring, especially when it leads to our players being injured continually, and our players being ridiculed, even by their own supporters.
