Some perspective: for years a lacklustre management held us back, with poor decisions made around the retention of Their Man on a cripplingly exorbitant five year coaching extension.
That said, there is an underlying systematic problem with injuries. Weber having departed, then something else is happening, possibly the Cockburn pitch, a work in progress that leaves us clearly off the pace and behind other teams.
It is still possible to be optimistic and see sunny uplands. We see genuine talent in the team, and most players including some maligned scapegoats-in-waiting gave it a red hot crack. Could have been a 10 goal walloping. Melbourne have a decent system, they will win a few as they usually do, early in the season. I'm sticking with the sunny uplands mantra for now.
