I player footy with Rick (aka Leo) at then Cowan Uni (C'MON EDITH... just kidding, the Hawkers, before they folded into West Coast Amateurs-yes it's a real place); Rick went on to play with Scarborough for many years, and was pretty handy, and really superlative for his age, amazing longevity. Could and did kick bags of goals on his day. His hair did get a lot of commentary from opponents, none complimentary.
And yes he went in bloody hard. I was no slouch at putting my body in, and I still remember a very willing game against Wanneroo where I had committed to hitting a pack, and Rick came from behind on an angle and hit the pack before me. Pretty bloody impressive. Still annoys me.
Fun fact- Danny Green played in the same side, usually off a HBF. Not particularly sophisticated chatter/sledging, but efficient. Enjoyed tuning in opposition rucks, whom wouldn't have known anything about the chirpy lean dude in front of them with a bit too much to say.
