If we did look for a left field option for a player to give us plenty of pace and outside run I think Conor McKenna should be considered for a rookie list pickup. He's only 24, experienced and a has indicated a possibility of returning to the AFL in the future. His connections are with Essendon but I'm sure with an exciting young team and new coach he could be enticed to the West for a return. There are 6 spots on the rookie list and with only Watson and maybe Thomas laying claim to 2 of those spots this is an area where we should be looking to speculative picks with a bit of X-Factor as supplement to our main list which is quite talented. McKenna, Kalin Lane, Chris Walker, Jack Avery or Alec Waterman are the types who are not the same old dime a dozen midfielders that we usually pick and could turn into team regulars if given a chance. They also have another string to their bow in that they can play forward or back except for Lane who can play as a tall forward option.
