I have no idea what Peter Bell will do but going on current draft rankings the following 'talls' are sitting around our first pick in the draft.
Nicholas Cox 199 Vic Metro
Zach Reid 202 Vic Country
Heath Chapman 193 West Perth
All have good cvs. Chapman a local looks a good get.

Can't we add Mcarthy to the rookie list to give him one last gasp?

I hope Jesse can carry the expectations of all of the hundred or so GWS supporters that he is the next Jeremy Cameron.....an easier gig than being the next Pav.

I would prefer the club look at Tyler Keitel and other WAFL guys in their early 20's that have the talent to step up play AFL than guys looking for a new home because of their own interests.

This is just the strangest, most bizarre development in a year becoming famous for 'bizarre'.

We chase McCarthy over several years, pay more than we should have, don't use him to his full advantage and then delist him half way through a season.

We spend years chasing Jesse Hogan, gave up draft picks and then in the same season that we dump McCarthy, we send him off to a rival club for the equivalent of a bag of cheese twisties.

We chased Lobb for a few seasons and successfully turned a pretty decent goal kicker into a sewing machine will all of the accuracy of Mr Magoo (Google that you millenials)

Now we are looking for a goal kicking tall to partner a bloke that most supporters spent years saying 'trade him, he's useless'.

So we flick the blokes we spent years chasing and seemingly leave it all up to the bloke that most spent years abusing. You have to hope that somebody down at Dooker Central knows what he is doing because I have no idea what they're doing. What I am sure of though is this is exactly the best way to look disfunctional. I just hope that McCarthy, Hogan etc don't turn into 2021's De Boer or Menegola.

Once again, I have to fall back on hope and ignore the worrying bouncing around the back of the brain.

Agree with the decision or not, this is a club culture thing from a new coach, same as it was with Cammac and same as it is with Blakely, all for different variations on the theme, or different sins however you want to put it. In Sydney Hogan is going to be away from the influence of his old mates, in a way he wasn't able to be here, and which meant he wasn't able to be a good influence on the young brigade, or even a regular starter. Sad, but I hope he gets a good restart over east.

I think Sturt might be the one to benefit here. The kid won a rising star nomination in his first game, we saw him outmuscle two men to win a contested mark. And goal. Tabs, Lobb, Sturt is a decent set of tall forwards. Would love to see another superstar in there but I don’t see the forward line as bereft of talls as some others see it.

The theory that bringing players back to their home state will solve known issues these players have has been proven not to be so for McCarthy and Hogan in particular. Interestingly more committed players are often not from this state. The best examples - Pavlich and Mundy. Hopefully Ryan will be in that category and others like Brayshaw, Cerra, Serong and Young in the long term.

The question is the lack of planning, where is our depth in our forward line come from ??

We need a another big man to do the ruck work...so Lobb and Tabs can kick goals. Darcy should be more aggressive next year hopefully.

I’m glad we’re not getting Mihocek. The spelling variations of his surname would have done my head in.
