Hoges has talent, not raw but well grounded with a skill set almost every other big forward will never have. Let's not pretend otherwise.
Every football club has player welfare people, psychologists, sports medicine, dieticians, development trainers, physiotherapists, assistant coaches and others. I am gobsmacked that none of them - individually or collectively - could get a talented footballer who loves the game playing it.
Peter Bell is the guy who did the deal, but he's also the bloke responsible for managing all those people listed above. Sure we gave up some draft picks to get Hoges here, we also invested $1.3m over two years to get him right to play. The failure of all those other people at the club is the cost that worries me the most.
