TOPIC: Hogan going to GWS

Well, this is disappointing for all concerned, but the writing was on the wall from about mid-season.

Given Bell was one of the architects of the initial trade, and everyone else involved is gone, I was wondering which way he would spin it. “It’s in Jesse’s best interests to further his playing career by moving away from WA” is a pretty solid effort. Much better that “I bet the equivalent of pick 2 on Jesse and I got it completely wrong”.

My guess is we get very little from GWS, and the intention is to split the news of the trade from the announcement of the return. Out of curiosity, has a club ever been on the wrong side of two trades involving the same player?

Given what was said at Jesse’s quarantine breach hearing about playing in NSW, I wonder how much of this was done weeks ago?

Best of luck Jesse. Hopefully you find your feet in Sydney.

Rumours - pick 43, Quinton Narkle and a fringe player???

Very disappointed to see him go, but for a suite of reasons it didn't work out. Will be an absolute gun in the right environment. Best of luck to him.

Done is done.

I hope GWS throw in a handful of $20 fuel vouchers with pick 43.
Half expecting Freo to offer their first+second round pick to GWS in exchange for the Pig to come back.

Disappointing.

Forget Mihocek - he has signed with Collingwood and I for one am very grateful for that.
Key forwards that are young and approaching their prime are rare and expensive. We bought one at the top of the market and we are selling it on Gumtree at a discount it would seem.

Why did Melbourne let a top young forward go? Remind me.

No Hogan, no McCarthy, Lobb is more ruckman than a forward, Tabs is good, but with his injury history i'd be surprised if he makes it through a full season with more games and training on the harder WA grounds. So back to no forward line next year i guess.

Calm the farm folks.

I've heard in 2023 we are going to trade a 28 old key forward from the Giants to bolster our forward line.

Don't say I didn't tell you.

Tall Fwds 2021 - Tabs, Lobb and Cox.
Tall backs 2021- Hamling, Pearce, Logue . Our bacline is looking good with Young coming back as well.
Use pick 12 for best available tall regardless of fwd or back or ruck in the draft. Use 31 and 43 for academy players.

Cox has shown he is a better backman than a forward, Plus it's doubtful Hamling and Pearce will be ready at season start so he'll still be needed in the backline.

Hopefully a new start will set Hogan off on the right track. I was thinking we never going to see him play football again at the beginning of the year. So even if we do get something back, it is good to see Hogan given an opportunity and we have an opportunity to move on with something in return. Him sitting on the sidelines not playing was never going to do him or us any good either.
I'm wondering if JLO has his eyes on a young B Cox moving forward if our three backs roll back in after injury? There is other options, so not all doom and gloom, no matter how frustrating it seems right now.
Anyway, what fun would it be being a Freo fan if we did not have something to whinge and B*tch about.

A rumoured pick 43 might also be overs when you consider the potential of further destructive influence this player could have on the club.

We need a goalkicking forward. tall or midsize doesn't matter. Mihocek would have fitted the bill, but it seems like he is not available.

Its sort of unbelievable...but then again - given trading form over 26 years - its very believable.!!

Only positive from it is that they are obviously putting their foot down about getting the club culture right.
