The apparent lunacy of this deal suggests there’s some big bad unknown factor behind the scenes we’re not aware of.

Bell strikes me as fairly savvy and we are well down on forwards, to trade one for a large net loss speaks volumes.

I can’t imagine anyone at Freo brought up trading Hogan “just coz”... there must be some factor that brought this to a head, particularly as the decision appeared to have been made mid year.

I really think we have to wait to see how Hogan performs at GWS to be sure whether Freo got it wrong with Hogan in accepting the deal we got. Good luck to GWS if they can make Hogan the consistent disciplined productive forward he was meant to be at Freo. Time will tell. At this point I would guess that serious issues existed between Hogan and the club in a broad sense. They would have weighed up the pluses and minuses no doubt. One plus is that it has freed up a lot of money which will allow some of the younger up and coming well performed players to be financially rewarded and hence keep them at the club.
Finally I think we stick with the draft and get the best player available at 12 and land our academy players.

Morgan when you have a sneaky suspicion from past experience that the free kick count in the final quarter is going to go 10 to zero against you in the final quarter and a lot of these are 5-10 metres out of the oppositions goal you'd be alerting the powers that be that something untoward is happening.

Off topic a bit, but how on earth have Collingwood screwed up their list management that badly that they need to offload almost their best player when he is contracted for another five full seasons?! What if he refuses to go anywhere? And they have reportedly put Stephenson, a year ago probably the best young player in the land, on the table. I don't really understand list management, salaries, etc. But it's like the accountant has just added it all up and realised everything is out by about twenty percent.
