Still can’t work out what happened with Cam this season. Had an epileptic fit at training and then was slowly backed out of the club, didn’t even get a chance to play many reserves games.

Sending players to hone their craft at Peel caused much angst on these pages when used as a strategy by the last coach. Not sure that it would go down well with this one. Kicking goals will happen when things are done right up the ground and on the training track, JL is on the right track to implement the changes needed.

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that Jesse will not be playing for Freo next year, so if we are going to have to trade with GWS, is there any thoughts about young Riccardi being involved? He fits our list age profile, towelled us up this year and will be behind Finlayson, Himmelberg and Hogan at GWS. I am thinking him and pick 40 (to help match bids) might be a good outcome for Freo as I can’t see us getting high enough up the order to snag McDonald.

pk, way back earlier in this thread I suggested Freo should become involved in some fashion with the Cameron trade relative to Hogan. I think Hogan will go and I think GWS is going to be the best path, which could involve picks and/or players.

If JL is keen to move Hogan as indicated I think his master plan is Brody Mihochek from Collingwood, blokes been playing well above his pay grade (rookie wage) at Collingwood and I believe doesn't have a contract with Collingwood for next season as they can't pay him what he's worth with their salary cap issues and trying to sign DeGoey etc.

I think JL is happy to write off Hogan and get what he can for him ( mid first round (9-12) pick from GWS seems fair), bring in Mihochek who has no 'character' or injury concerns, works his ass off (if you've watch collingwood play he reminds me of what Taberner contributes for us - forward targets and contests) and would come cheaper than Hogan would cost us, would be grateful for the good $$$ as only been in the AFL system for a few years on a rookie wage and in the prime of his career for the next few years.

Also leaves hopefully some cash to chase a big fish (hello P Cripps) next season to top us off nicely for a premiership tilt in 2022-2024

I've been thinking the same thing about Mihocek but the problem would be the salary issue as we are reported to be having problems with meeting the salary cap so would have the same problems as the Pies in satisfying his needs.

I think Hogan's value on the trade market has depreciated beyond a first round pick, Patient Docker. More likely a second round will be coming back our way. He has injury concerns, character concerns and a bloated salary.

Mihocek will be 28 before the start of next season and a couple years older than Hogan. He's much smaller than Hogan and is a bit undersized for a KPF. He's more of a workhorse than someone to lead a forwardline and not at all someone I'd be trying to fill a forwardline with.

He's kicked a little over a goal a game across his 3 years in the AFL while in a pretty successful side. There's no way trading Mihocek in for Hogan is anything but a huge blunder.

Are there any likely pickups amongst the delistings who may enhance our list or fill gaps. There are plenty to choose from this year who have been quite unlucky and only being offloaded because of the uncertainty surrounding list sizes. Is there a chance of Hugh Dixon getting another callup?

Mihocec is a poor man's version of Shane Kersten and Cripps is a hopeless kick at goal. Its all very well stacking your midfield with options galore, but sooner or later you gotta punch it through the big sticks to win a game. Sure, draft a beanpole that you think might develop, but even if you can wait six to eight years you gotta kick more than four to five goals a game to be in it. We won't be.

Loving all the opinions on Mihochek. I've written in other posts that I actually wouldn't trade Hogan as I don't think we will get fair value, but not knowing, contracts, relationships at the club and the playing group and coaching thoughts we are all speculating.

If we're going to trade him I just want to get maximum value and a plan in place for our structure etc.
