The obvious skill he lacked tonight was disguising deliberate out of bounds well enough. But one can understand his difficulty - he's been instructed, "Lead up the wing, mark it if you can, and if you can't, make sure it goes out of bounds". And he's done it all night, until with a minute to go the umps decide its a free. Never mind that he tapped it forward and chased it, Tabs committed the unforgivable sin of "not disguising it enough".
So apart from tackling, chasing, ground ball gets and disguising out of bounds, he's going well. So now can he start working on all that boring second effort stuff? Mind you, Pav's second efforts were often a bit underwhelming. I suspect its a hard thing for big forwards, but Darling seems to manage....
