TOPIC: Injured Dockers v Weagles

IMHO
Why is it we when we put out our injury list, we are getting more and more TBA for players estimated return. We now have 6.......thats right 6 listed.
No other club is even close to that. Most are none or 1 listed as TBC.( kangas have 4)

It has become all to common(and convenient) for Jason Weber to say "Its quite a complex issue" .
Mustve heard that chesnut a dozen times in the last 2 years.........I now take take it as code for TBA we have no idea.

I see they rolled Belly out this week unsurprisingly.
Totally embarassed strength and conditioning team call on Fyfes hammy last week. This is not hindsight, the industry was totally shocked at Nats return after 1 week, to the point it was questioned that it couldnt of been a hammy after all.

Oh well, at least we're top of the ladder again.......for injuries!

JLo has to be careful on doubling down on the management of Fyfe's injury. It's not a good defence to come out and say:
"Just to give you some understanding around Nathan’s hammy, he was passed fit to play Tuesday after his rehab session where he ticked all the protocols that we assess hamstrings with."

My follow up questions would be:
(i) Who exactly are you referring to when you say "we assess"?
(ii) Who sets the protocols as they have clearly been proven to be ineffective?

Could anybody please enlighten me.
How long has our fitness/medical department been in place? Our injury plague seems to have been with us from before the sacking of Harvey.
Under Harvey we could hardly field a team that last year before we fell out of contention for finals. Even in our top four years under Lyon we couldn’t keep players like Johnson, McPharlin or Ibbotson on the park

The club needs to bring in an expert.

Webber has been there since 2008, is that a coincidence?

DbtS, those three players averaged about 230 games between them. I’m not sure they’re the best evidence for an underperforming fitness staff.

What has never been clear to me is what role Webber plays in injury and rehab. He’s not a Doctor, and he’s not a physio, but he’s a sports scientist. If you take Fyfe’s hammy, who makes the call on him playing? If you were apportioning blame for that one, doesn’t the physio, coach, and player have a stronger voice in that decision?

You might think so, Morgan, if it was the same Dr, coach & player every time, but given 4 coaches a busload of players , & I'm not sure how many Drs, over the las 12 or 13 seasons, and 1 constant in Webber, I'm bloody sure I would be showing him the door.

The team doctor Ken Withers and physiotherapist Jeff Boyle have been at the club for every year of its history.

Due for a change then, I’ve never noticed Webber on game day sending blokes out with bung ankles.

Well, move them on too, if they get a say in recovery and return to play.

Although I would say that we did not seem to have this problem before the appointment of Webber.
