Should be in the team. We need somebody that can accumulate possessions we have way to many 10-15 touch players.
I don’t know what he has done wrong.
I think with the team we’ve named we will get beaten. We’ve been smashed in around the ruck contest, players like the two Crouch’s and Sloan have something to prove and can rack them up.

When he plays in the midfield he turns over the ball horribly.
Has played his best football as a half back flanker where he did a good job and his poor disposal was somehow ok.
Our half back line is reasonably strong now, but I personally prefer him in front of conca in defense.
Longmuir wants him to be a midfielder but as mentioned above his poor disposal is a liability. Also is not blessed with pace.

I don't know, but I'm sure there's a very good reason why he's not getting a game. It's just no one outside of the club knows either - I won't clutch at straws, apparently those selected are better. I wouldnt think JLo has any Machaviellian reason either.

F the pace. Colyer has got pace but his disposal is woeful plus he doesn't actually get the ball that often. Conca is slower than Blakely and can't get the ball anywhere near as often as him.

There are 22 guys named to the team; of those, I think 20 obviously deserve their spot ahead of him, and two are debatable (Bewley and Colyer, both named as forwards).

There are some blokes outside the team I’d love to see in there above him when available (CamMac, Valente, Carter).

It going to be tough for him. The Mark Micallef era was short, but Blakely getting a contract until 2022 is not looking great right now. Hopefully Connor turns it around.

Conca was one I thought could easily make way for Blakey. Not fast, turns the ball over, doesn’t have much upside, doesn’t get much of it and is out of form.
I beg to differ on where Blakely has played his best footy. IMO his progression has taken several steps backwards since he was moved back. From all reports his pre-season was top notch apart from a few skill errors in a scratchy and he was a stand out from the ressies last week.

I don’t know what’s going on with Blakely but if he can’t get a game this week, I don’t like his chances of ever getting back into the team. Acres should be in the mix next week and Fyfe back for the derby. It is pure conjecture from us on the outside looking in, however Serong and Bewley have apparently passed him in the pecking order.
Noting Valente and Frederick are getting talked up as potential debutants in the near future, I just can’t see how he forces his way in.

Give Blakely a run. Getting the footy is a problem at the moment, and I reckon, with targets ahead of him, his disposal will get back to what it was when he was recruited. Midfielders need to know that they have someone long AND forward of them as an option when they get the footy in heavy traffic.

Fyfe & Walters can get out of that traffic, so they bear the load, but a player like Blakely who can get the footy & belt forward to a target, can take some of that load.

There has been a late change every week since we started back, maybe this is old school foxing from JL?
Also noted that this has taken some pressure of the player coming in for a debut and less of a furnace applied to a player who may have been dropped for form. I hope Connor is a late change for Colyer.

We've been regularly smashed in clearances and particularly out of the centre even with Fyfe, but we can't find a place in the side for a player who averages more disposals than anyone on our list bar Fyfe.

I think he should be in for team balance.Call me old fashioned but I like a bit of grunt on the inside and pace on the outside.Walters aside(who I prefer to play as a forward) we are a bit light on in the clearance winning department.We seem to have a lot of one paced players with good disposal.
