TOPIC: Freo v Port

I'd give anything to see Wilson on a wing, and having a crsck from 60.
Said that last year, and the year before. For some far bwtter reason, RoLy thought it best to.take a the flair out of him.

Hopefully it returns very soon.

Also, Young's gotta stay in. Is Duman a necessity??.. Not done a lot wrong,, but he's not there when Pearce & Hamling come back. Young probably is.

Wilson is a half back flanker, not a wingman. Stephen Hill is a wingman, not a backman. Cam McCarthy is a lead up forward, not a wingman. None of them are utilities like Dave Mundy.

A possible future utility is Griffin Logue, he appears to be able to play back, centre and forward. Brennan Cox looks good in the backline or up forward but is hopeless in the middle of the ground.

It's not rocket surgery, just play players in their correct positions.

Wilson is yet to kick a goal for Fremantle, even though he's tried a few times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's the only current player that remains goalless.

Bit hard to kick 'em when you're a lock down backman in the last line of defence.

He's got a beaut hoof, but even he's gonna struggle from back there.

We can't be using his FFC history to be judging him on what he can and can't do, because for all of his FFC history, some clown had him playing a game that was completely foreign to him.

Why he was not allowed to be a free running, spare in defence, big kicking link up player (like he was at GWS), we'll never know....??

I would not hesitate to let him 'have his head' and have a run in the midfield, or a wing...

I mean, precisely what attribute does he have that 'makes him a backman'.??

Agree with Cletus in the fact at GWS he was a running backman who was given the license to run forward and use his big kicking to advantage whereas under he who shall not be named it was preferred that he hold the ball up, kick sideways, chip it around and try and keep possession.
Part of that was also probably due to the fact that there was nobody in our forward line to kick it to anyway.

I think you were seeing things CA. I thought some of our best highlights started with Wilson ripping the ball from defence to a running B Hill or Langdon. He did look a little hobbled by injury last year though.

For what it's worth, Wilson’s disposals and meters gained in his last two years at GWS and first two years at Freo:

2016 GWS: 16.9 disposals, 487 meters gained per game
2017 GWS: 17.4 disposals, 504 meters gained per game
2018 Freo: 18.5 disposals, 503 meters gained per game
2019 Freo: 17.9 disposals, 472 meters gained per game

He was basically the same player.

Nothing like a good bit of research to stuff up an argument.

Oops, I looked it up - Wilson did kick a goal for us, once - the first game he played for Fremantle (round 1, 2018 v Port).

Good on him, top effort - sorry I missed it.
