Congrats to John Kennedy Snr for the elevation to Legend. I loved those 'old-school' coaches.

Not so sure about Lenny Hayes as a Hall of Famer. Sure he's a good looking rooster, and he was a good player for a long time, but maybe not up there with players I'd expect to be in this list.

The hall of fame would have more credibility if it was less Vic centric.

Kennedy is a great addition but it is the lack of recognition of WA and SA champions that is the problem.Only one player Barrie Robran did not play in the VFL / AFL.

From SA what about Oatey who coached 777 SANFL games. What about Russell Ebert 392 games and 4 Magaries arent they legends? What about Austin Robertson with 1211 goals or Tyson, Doig or Naylor. What about Bill Walker with 3 sandovers or WelWhinnen with over 370 games. Why arent they legends?

More VFL AFL BS thats why.

Mush In my view Ti is the greatest player never to play AFL VFL, he is a true legend and his omission is a disgrace but everyone here knows I bleed red and white blood cells :) so wanted to show some bipartisanship with the examples I gave.

But Naylor, Marsh, Todd, TI, Maurice and Gero not being recognised as AFL legends is a genuine disgrace.

Others can put up their lists.

I had never heard of him RM, which is my loss as he was an amazing man. I looked him up on Wikipedia and this quote in itself elevates him to legend status.

He played for both South Australia (1909–10) and Western Australia (1908, 1911, 1914) and captained the South Australian team at the 1914 interstate carnival.[21]

Did he have an identical twin?

Some quick surfing on the web shows that Matson’s story deserves a movie. Not only was he a good player and coach but he was also a world record breaking swimmer. Bizarrely one of the strokes he used was the “now-obsolete trudgen stroke”. I’m too scared to google that in case it has nothing to do with swimming.
That aside, clearly loyalty wasn’t a strong suit. Not only did he represent two states, he also made the team of the century for two WAFL clubs (Subi and East Perth). Sadly he died in a truck crash on Hampton Rd when he was 43.

Back to the theme of this post - apparently he is in the AFL hall of fame (according to Wikipedia)

Quasi, his greatest acheivements were probably in coaching, and I have erred in my recollections, Phil Matson is a member of the Hall of Fame as a coach, he should be a legend of the Hall of Fame.

Lenny Hayes? Kennedy got life story bio on the News and then read out a sentence of Hayes is a Famer and he played for the Saints.
Must be a required Hall of Fame quota of players from each VFL team.
Nothing to do with that he's worked for AFL and brought great cake when it wasn't his birthday.
What a boring choice.

When does Matthew Pavlich get his long over-due membership of the Hall of Fame?

353 games over 17 years and based entirely in WA, in 2014 became the first player from a WA club to reach 300 AFL games. He was 6 time all-Australian 2002-06, 6 time club best and fairest, 8 time leading goalkicker and club captain between 2007-15.

I think he's earned the honour and is far more deserving than Mr Flappy.

Scandalous.
