In the middle of March we had 13 players out. With only one not returning in the next two months, Giro.

That March update is still on the club website as the latest list. It will be really interesting to see how many are actually out after doing not a lot for eight weeks.

There should be no excuses.

Stephen Hill (quad), Blake Acres (hamstring), David Mundy (leg) and Stefan Giro (knee) were all out of the rehabilitation group.
Alex Pearce, fellow defender Joel Hamling (both ankle) and Sam Switkowski (lower back) were the only ones training away from the seven-man groups.

Yep, and while I accept he is young and will develop further, I've seen nothing to indicate Brennan Cox will become a AFL-level key defender.

Defence will be our weakness going into this rehashed season.

its interesting about defence. I have mates who are watching the restarted K League and bundeslige soccer matches, they have noticed that the area that seems the most affected by lack of team training is team defence.

This may be a help to us if we are relying on a young and individual defenders our worst may not be as bad compared to other teams as their team defence is not at its best.

Never the less not having Hambling and Pearce is a big loss.
