As Polly says, all sports are facing immolation if they don't act quickly to tighten their belt. NRL has just made brutal cuts and the AFL must follow, and not expect to be first in the queue for government handouts, when many casual workers, airline staff etc are losing their jobs, taxi drivers, cafes going to the wall and the economy in trouble.
The federal emergency fund is intended to keep smaller business afloat, not delusional mega-corps that want business-as-usual and refuse to act until the fences come up at the borders.
There are no excuses for not being realistic in a severely curtailed season where revenues are going to be right down. Everyone has to take a drastic haircut, stop crying and lead.
