As evidenced an overly regimented inflexible style of game doesn’t necessarily bring benefits. It becomes predictable and the players can be at a loss of what to do next when it isn’t working.

Sometimes less is more........this sounds strange doesn’t it asking a coach to have less direct influence on where the players position themselves and what they do with the ball considering coaches earn big dollars. But a coach can overcook it or get it just right where the players are aligned in terms of strategy and then they make the decisions for themselves on field.

Sorry, Davo, but JL will add a bit more direction to the "kick long". And he will actually have players stationed in the vicinity of McGovern, Hurn etc, which will mean that they have to try and win a contest. ( Something they have not really proved proficient at).
