Green bid after pick 3 but before our first pick means we actually pick at 8 and 9.

And if bid comes from Carlton for Henry at their first pick it’ll be player 10 taken.

For a bit of fun here are players taken at 7, 8, 9, and 10 in last few drafts.

Not a lot of out and out stars / marquee players you can build a premiership around. Especially when compare with many players taken on the teens. Cripps, etc.

I retract that you beaut! I think it reinforces my point, there's a lot of good players in that lot, especially when you consider even the oldest in 2013 are only 24 and just entering their prime.

That’s correct Detox, but we will also get a massive draft deficit by taking Henry effectively relegating our fist round pick to a second or even 3rd round pick depending on how well we do next year and where the bid comes. I would much prefer to have traded down from 10 to 15&20 with GC and ended up with 7, Henry, 22 and about pick 24 (15 gone to match the bid and 20 sliding a little bit) picks 22 & 24 could have been two of Sharp, Rivers or Taylor. And our first round pick next year would be intact.

I think all the clubs are saying next years draft is very average and all the most compromised in history.. I’m happy to drop back a bit on our first pick next year.. might have been easier to just have accepted pick 6 for hill I suppose.

Once we match the bid and go into deficit.. can we not use our next years 1st pick to get into this years draft? about pick 17-20 to pick another player this year.. Then we can get another good player this year and only effect our second pick next year.. then we get 7,8, Henry and pick 18 for example, and lose next years second round pick.. rivers, sharp and even Robertson still might be available..
