I remember LeCras the player as skilful and a good mark, but as a TV reporter, I think he's definitely le crap. Maybe, after a season out of the game, he's thinking he'd like to be involved again, because his future in the media seems a bit limited?
He would probably command respect from the younger playing group, as a recently retired player of high reputation, with up-to-date knowledge of the game. He couldn't be any worse than that boofhead RL brought in from Hawthorn, and a different approach seems to be called for.
Shane's misgivings about the AFL's jobs for the boys mentality is spot-on, but the talent pool for quality assistant coaches seems shallow, and we're stuck out on the periphery here in the west, limiting the club's choices even further. I say give him a go. What could go wrong, that hasn't already?
