You think the AFL have an organised conspiracy to dud Fremantle. I think in a community organisation with millions of dollars should hire people on merit. I don't think the two things overlap.
Very few top tier jobs are handed out in the AFL to unknowns. And most go to someone who is a mate of someone, almost as if that's the key criteria for a hire. There are a lot of issues with running organisations that way, which I'm sure you're going to read up on right now but all you have to do is look at the whiteness of the coach's boxes to get an idea of one of the big ones.
I was always impressed with Justin Longmuir's effort at improving his set shot goal kicking. The story was that Chris Connolly brought in help from a human movement expert who looked at the mechanics of his kicking action in consideration with his body. Do you reckon LeCras will do it that way or just pull out the Ron Barassi Big Book of Coaching.
Has LeCras studied? Has he coached? Has he been identified as someone with a great talent for teaching his skills to others? I don't know but the AFL clubs have never put a great priority on those sorts of things.
