I have certainly learnt a lot from the way Peter has gone about his business over the last two trade periods. I admire the tough stances he takes and his unwavering determination in achieving what he has set out to do.

So now time to renew my membership.

Peter, I’ll give you $199.

Let’s wait and see, our success or failure at this draft is very dependant on this outcome. If we miss West Aussies because we are to low in the first round, I won’t be happy. If we secure the best of the WA youth and Acres is a player then all’s well.
The issue we have it isn’t draft related, we need to batten down and ensure we retain our best. I don’t think we could do very much about the Hill offer, it would’ve been a poor decision to match it.
I think we should’ve been able to find a way to keep Langdon given the compensation we received for him.
If I was Peter Bell I would be having conversations with the players and their managers, to let them know in no uncertain terms if anybody is interested in our contracted players, we will only entertain them if they have the wallet to pay. We will not become a club to be pilffered. The media will have a field day and slay us but it needs to happen.
I heard a rumour that Hill had already purchased property in Melbourne. If this is the case then these players need to know, that’s your problem.
Sydney and Essendon hung tough this year and Geelong last year.

It incredible how often posts that suggest players have purchased property interstate also include the word “rumour”.

Matebe, we don't get under way till last week of March. Just keep stonewalling till then. At which time you can join me in the last row back in the nosebleeds. Thing is - you'll get heaps of seats.

in my opinion, and its mine, Belly is the most influential Fremantle person we have had at Fremantle since Gerard.

We are going places whilst he is there.

People, feel free to correct me on this. Since Bell was appointed, in his role as helping deliver players to the club, it seems to me he's successfully done it to order. RLyon wanted tall marking forwards, and after great hassle, Lobb and Hogan came to the club. (We couldn't achieve this before.) This year, I heard the club wanted picks, and B.Hill was somehow turned into several useful picks, along with some decent depth to midfield/wing and half backline positions.

He's not the list manager, but the force is strong within him.

Bell was in the right place at the right time when two West Aussies wanted to come back home and the OOFTIT's had so many talls, they didn't bother much with an offer (not that they could match ours since they were the premiers and we finished with high picks to use). It was pretty hard to screw up those deals and they cost us plenty in a first round pick for Lobb and an early first round pick plus an early second round pick for Hogan. They were pretty even deals.

As for this year, we were screwed over on the Langdon deal, probably slight overs on the Hill deal and back to unders on Aish. It wasn't our best trade period and I expected more than what we picked up there. It seems weird to have everyone raving about Bell when he hasn't really made any massive moves for us that swing severely in our favour like the Weller deal.

The myth of Peter Bell seems far stronger than the reality amongst supporters.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.
