Nah, Langdon is worth about as much as Hill to be honest. He's 2 years younger, has finished top 5 in the Doig the past couple of years and was one of our better players. He averaged the same number of disposals as Hill (25 each) and with a higher disposal efficiency (70.2 vs 66.7) and fewer clangers (2.3 vs 3.2).

Hill's kicking is pretty poor and while Ed makes some bad decisions, his kicking is actually alright when he chooses the right target. Langdon contests Hill for the best runner at the club and is not that far off him despite Brad getting all the accolades. Ed is also far better when he has to go inside and get the ball himself, far better in the air and generally has more value when not able to be a pure outside receiver.

He really shouldn't be that far off the value we get for Hill, especially since he is 2yrs younger.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Except Hill is contracted for two more years and Ed is out of contract, so the best I think we can get is pick 22 from Melbourne and swap our pick 83 for their pick 79.

Yes, Langdon is out of contract and we want to get something for him. I would not want him going into the draft and we get nothing. I'd take pick 22 and move on. I think Melbourne would be OK with that. We are not going to get pick 3 for Langdon!

Being contracted or not shouldn't effect his trade value too much. Look at the asking price of Kelly who is out of contract. There's also the challenge for Melbourne in picking Langdon up ahead of others in the draft if a deal couldn't be reached, there's plenty of other suitors and competition in Melbourne.

Langdon's value is not far off Hill and we should be looking to get much more than pick 22. Give us 2 picks in the 20's and it better represents his trade value. That or a pick in the early teens.

Langdon probably doesn’t want to go to St.Kilda but a direct swap for Josh Bruce wouldn’t be terrible, especially as Hogan’s foot looks cooked.

Apologies. It’s that time of year so just throwing it out there.

I find it hard to believe you blokes don't rate a kid who's been in our 5 best players each of the last 2 years and is still only 23.

what I don't get is how accommodating clubs now are to get a player to their desired club? Why do they have that obligation?

Professional courtesy.

There are plenty of times it doesn't work. Just look at all the players who tried nominating Fremantle.

I rate him very highly Biz, to me he's better than Weller but if we don't get the trade done , can't he just go into the draft and Melbourne have 2nd pick ?

I'm not sure how this all works anymore .

If he say's he wants to go back to Victoria to play I can't see GCS risking picking him up and then Melbourne get him for nothing , so aren't we forced to deal with Melbourne and just have to accept unders for him ?

OK try for Melbourne's 22 and 40? Alternatively 22 and Angus of the Brayshaw clan?

Ed's best attribute, apart from his running, is his inate understanding of evolving play. He knows what's going to happen and where he should be. Only Mundy is better at that on our team - just my opinion.

Keep Ed and toss Blakely Melbourne's way. Again, my opinion.

Ed Langdon is a similar quality player in regards to ability and contract status to Brad Hill when he crossed to us from Hawthorn and he cost us pick 23 (from memory), so 22 from Melbourne is about right in my mind. Anything better than that means Belly is a master negotiator.

I think pick 6 for Hill is about right and pick 22 for Langdon is right. It should be pretty simple. I reckon Angus Bradshaw is worth a slightly more than Ed Langdon in my view.

Again, I believe Freo should offer pick 7 for Geelong’s pick 14 (WCE) and pick 17, provided we get pick 6 for Hill

Anyone know if Hamish Brayshaw contracted at WCE? He might be a handy pick up.

Sorry, I don’t might seeing Hill & Langdon go, yes they maybe in the top 5 players but that’s cause they played every game which you get points for (like getting a medal for participation), hamling, ryan were better players.

I just remember their foot skills against Essendon in the last home game, they were absolutely crap!
