Hypen, I thought we had a third rounder from the Lachie Neale deal though I may be mistaken. I'm sure I saw it on a AFL site article but maybe it was a misprint. Well we'll just to manipulate one then in the trade period. I'm sure there's going to be some sleight of hand later in the piece and maybe even a trade of a player, I'm not sure who, for picks. Here's the projected scenario.
6 (Hill), 7, 22 (Langdon), 26, 57 (Hill), 80. I'd be pushing for more than 6 for Hill. Perhaps Hill + 80 = picks 6 and 57.
Forget Kelly, use 6, 7 and 22 in the draft, 26 on Mcintosh and 57 on Menadue.
Some might suggest 26 is overs for Mcintosh but he's only 25 years of age and has been a very good player in a strong Richmond side. He was unlucky not to get the call up in the last GF. Pickett got the gig.

What is the status of Menadue? Someone said we can get him as a delisted free agent as he has not been offered a contract but my understanding is that he is still on Richmond's list and must be traded for, like Kelly at Geelong. That being the case I believe we only use one draft pick on a Richmond player 56 and we keep the earlier one for Elijah Taylor or Trent Rivers. I'd prefer McIntosh to Menadue.

I would trade pick 26 & 22 (total points 1546 = pick 7/8) for

Mcintosh, Mendue & pick 38, 39 & 41 (total points 1323 = pick 11)

So if you believe Henry would be a mid teens pick, then Freo will have enough points to cover a bid for Henry.

Or Freo could even split pick 6 or 7 with Gold Coast/GWS for their picks 15/20 or 12/18 respectively.

Here's an inventive trade scenario fro Foxfooty tradechat this morning involving Ed Langdon and multiple pick trading.
We send Ed and picks 7&26 to Melbourne in exchange for picks 3, 22&40
We then send picks 3&8 to GWS in exchange for their picks 12. 18 & 75
This leaves us with picks 6, 12, 18, 22, 40 & 75
I'm assuming this takes into account that we get pick 6 from Saints for Brad Hill.
It's not perfect but it's the sort of deal that we have to do in order to maximise our Draft hand. I'd personally still prefer 2 picks inside the first 10 though.

in that scenario we lose Langdon for a third round pick and a small upgrade on our existing picks which is irrelevant when we're likely picking West Aussies and the clubs ahead of us aren't. That's not to mention the even spread of talent throughout the first and early second round making a slight upgrade of a pick a waste of time.

Langdon is a first round pick, we need one in the teens for him at a minimum.

Ed is not a first round pick, 2nd rounder pick 22 from Melbourne is about right. Our value of him does not equate to his realistic value on the open market. He is a long way short of Bradley Hill purely on the amount of times he butchers his disposal which at times is reminiscent of Danyle Pearce.

Not my concoction PK, i didn't really check all the ins & outs but there are many possible permutations out there with various clubs. Just an option, but not mine. Yeah just tried doing that on paper and I think they've pulled pick 8 from somewhere and I can't find GWS pick 75 so scrap that particular deal but it's this type of deal that is needed or we just go with what we've got plus Hill and Langdon compensation which I'd be happy with.
